2025 Roots Farmshare – Week 3
On the Farm
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITYJune 26th, 27th, or 28th | 9 AM – 3 PM
Roots Farm is undergoing major construction and reorganization, and we could use extra hands! Join us one, two, or all three days—any help is appreciated. We’ll be clearing out two greenhouses, moving supplies, washing, and organizing. It’s not heavy or strenuous work, just a lot of walking and sorting.
Adults only, please. We won’t be able to give tours during this busy week, but we will host an open house for Farmshare members later this summer or fall. Please RSVP if you’re able to help—thank you for your support!
PASTURED CHICKEN EGGS FOR SALE!
We’re excited to offer our first pastured chicken eggs for sale! Our hens eat a hand-prepared mix of cooked beans, lentils, organic corn, rice, and vegetables. These are truly exceptional eggs. Limited quantities of duck eggs will also be available in the coming months.
VERMICOMPOSTING PROJECT LAUNCH
Starting July 1st, Roots Farm will begin construction on a commercial-scale vermicomposting operation in partnership with the Washington State Department of Ecology. This project is part of our mission to reduce food waste, build soil fertility, and support climate resilience.
We’ll be transforming food scraps from local businesses into nutrient-rich worm compost—keeping organics out of landfills and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Once complete, this system will allow us to process large volumes of food waste on-site and share practical, low-tech composting methods with the broader community.
